Why is it important to understand about Hagar and Sarah?
As it is written:
Galatians 4:24-25
"24...the women represent two covenants. One covenant is from Mount Sinai and bears children who are to be slaves: This is Hagar. 25Now Hagar stands for Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present city of Jerusalem, because she is in slavery with her children."
(The old covenant) Hagar corresponds to the physical Jerusalem, in the Palestine area.
But, what about Sarah?
Sarah corresponds to what?
Galatians 4:26
"26But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.
(The new covenant) Sarah corresponds to the Jerusalem that is above, the Heavenly Jerusalem. Unlike Hagar, she is the free woman, therefore her children are free. God established His everlasting covenant with the child of the free woman (Gen 17:19).
Galatians 4:28.
"Now you brothers, like Isaac, are children of promise...31Therefore, brothers, we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman."
In the Church of God World Mission Society, we are children of the free woman, the Jerusalem that is above, our Heavenly Mother. Even though I grew up reading the Bible, no one ever taught me about the significance of the Sarah. How important she is! Only the children of the free woman receive the promise of everlasting life. Without Christ Ahnsahnghong revealing this Truth to us, we would never have been led to our Heavenly Mother, the one who has come down to this earth to save us. How amazing is the love of God! (Revelation 21:9-10, Revelation 22:17)
--one cannot even fathom.
